That Good Old Summer Time! by Judd Cochran

Spring is in full bloom and the end of school is in sight, which means that Summer will be here before we know it. Students, stay focused on the prize, there is only about seven weeks left until “That Good Old Summer Time!”In our Youth Ministry the summer is our busiest time of year and we have something going on all the time. Stay tuned, the Summer calendar will be headed your way very soon.

On Wednesday Nights we are starting a new message series called “Jesus is Better Bro!” This series will focus on how Jesus is better than all the stuffwe could ever accumulate in our lives. We will talk about staying focused on the prize, which is Heaven, and building the Kingdom of God, rather than getting distracted by the things that culture says are important, like the newest technology, having the best car, accumulating wealth, and popularity. I can’t wait to see how God works in our students lives through this newest message series.

Finally, there are still plenty of spots available to register for Camp Eagle. I have had the honor and privilege of taking youth to Camp Eagle for 12 years. It is truly one of those places that God has used to shape my life and the lives of many students. It is an adventure camp that helps build youth ministries by helping them see where they excel but also identifies areas where work can be done. It is a camp that helps form community among all who attend. Besides, it offers activities such as rock climbing, rappelling, and many other activities that you only get to do a few times in your life. If you do not attend anything else this summer, please consider going to Camp Eagle with us. It will change your life and the life of our Youth Ministry together. We do have scholarships available.

Summer Activities

Super Summer – June 17-21 Dallas Baptist University | Cost $400

Super Summer is a Leadership Camp for students who have completed 7th Grade through Graduating Seniors. Students must fill out a questionnaire (by March 31) to attend, and must be willing to give a 3-5 minute faith story in front of the Student Ministry in order to attend. There are several intense Bible studies throughout the day with discussion groups made up of students from other churches. Students from our church will not be put in the same group.

Camp Eagle – July 2-7 in Rocksprings, TX | Cost: $300 Register online: www.trinitybaptist.org/camp-eagle

This is a camp for all students 6th -12th Grade. This year we are fortunate enough to be able to take 55 students. Camp Eagle provides opportunities for students to participate in exciting activities: Zip3000 (once rated the 7th longest zipline in the world), rock climbing, rappelling, sherpa trek, super swing, swimming (and blobbing) in the Nueces River, and more! Spots will start filling up quickly, so please make sure you sign-up quickly and pay your $100 deposit to reserve your spot.

Vacation Bible School – July 8-11

Trinity Baptist Church’s Vacation Bible School will be here before you know it. I know Pastor Debbie will need the help of our students to minister to the kids involved. This will be a great time to minister to others, and to share the gospel with the children of our church and community. If you would like to help please contact Monica Murphy at mmurphy@trinitybaptist.org.

Honduras Mission Trip – July 12-18

We are so excited to have the opportunity to go to Honduras this summer for the first student international mission trip in quite a while. We began our training March 20th, and are looking forward to what the Lord will do as we are obedient in going to Honduras this summer. We are taking a team of sixteen people into the public schools in Honduras and to share the gospel through songs, skits, and our faith stories.
