Disciple, the New Testament word for “learner”, is used 260 times in the Gospels & Acts. Obviously it is important. Why? Because through discipleship we are transformed. Following Christ impacts all of who we are and all we do. Christ’s teachings are the disciple’s pathway. So, the second century Christian leaders set the tone in understanding that “disciple” is synonymous with being a Christian. In this Jesus said, “Come. Follow me. I will make you and send you as fishers of people.” (Matthew 4:19) My sermon series, leading up to Easter, connects us to our true life calling.
