Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon 2018

The annual Humana Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon will be rolling through December 7-8, 2019, which means we need to plan ahead for church on Sunday the 8th. The course has not changed this year. There will be no closures directly around the church but there will be some inconveniences for those who typically take E. Mulberry under 281 to the church. We have been working with the City of San Antonio as well as the marathon organizers to find the best possible routes for everyone on Sunday to ensure that we can all make it to both the 10:15 and 10:45 service as well as to Sunday School at 9:00.

As you plan and think about Sunday, December 8th, we ask that you pray for the runners that day as well as the city of San Antonio. We know it will be a minor inconvenience that morning, so how we react and respond to the inconvenience will be telling of who we are as a church and as people of God.

The main closure that will affect members and visitors is N. St. Mary’s which has direct access to TriPoint. This typically has been cleared and open by 10:15-10:30 Sunday morning.

You can find an interactive map to the course here if you would like to try your own route, however the police will not allow you through if there are runners in the area. This includes the blockade that will be placed at Summit and Shook.  You can find a printable PDF of the map here.

Road Closings can be found here. Please remember that you will not get through the blockades until the runners have passed.

We recommend using the Waze app to help avoid closures.

Crossings: The course officials have told us that by the time people start gathering for the Crossings service at 10:45, the blockades should be opened.  If you arrive early for set up, you may need to park on Huisache and walk a short distance to TriPoint.
