Rebuilding In the Wilderness
Michael Walzer sums up three lessons from the Exodus “Wherever you live, it is probably Egypt. Second, that there is a better place, a world more attractive, a promised land. And third, that ‘the way to the land is through the wilderness.’” So it is in our lives at work, within our families, in our community, and in our faith family. We are often aware of the gap between what we had hoped and what we currently experience. There is this longing for wholeness within our most important relationships and often the journey forward is through the proverbial wilderness. As a community of faith we walk through the wilderness together, sharing the longing and the pain together as we also share in the hope and in the healing. What a gift we offer one another when we risk vulnerability and share in the long walk of longing and loss toward the promised land of healing and wholeness!
