It’s now been a month since I have been full-time in San Antonio and I can say that I’m thankful to finally feel at home, which has been accompanied by a growing sense of productivity. Things in the Music Ministry tend to slow down a bit during the summer months and so I’m taking full advantage of this time to begin planning ahead for the fall and for 2018. I want to share a few of the exciting events coming our way and to encourage you to begin contemplating how you and your families might get more involved.
I found my voice and my love for singing during my children’s choir experiences at my home church, and I honestly believe that children’s choirs can be a place to encourage creativity and to help them grow in their knowledge of Scripture and biblical stories. Debbie, our children’s pastor, shares this philosophy and so we have been intentional in our planning for an update to the Wednesday evening children’s music and discipleship time. On Wednesday evening, August 30th, we will be hosting a joint music/children’s ministry kickoff event which will spread this excitement to children and parents alike! Make sure to share this important date with other parents and grandparents!
On October 13-15 the Chorale will be hosting Joseph Martin for a Composer’s Weekend. We will kickoff the weekend with a banquet where Joe will provide the entertainment. The Music Ministry will be selling tickets to this event and the entire church is invited. On Saturday the Chorale will rehearse several of the compositions Joe has written and then he will be helping lead us in worship on Sunday morning. Even if you have never sung with the Chorale before, this event would make for an exciting time to join us! This weekend will be one of several events that will help us celebrate the new Sanctuary piano graciously given by the Butt family.
