If You Want to Write: An Introductory Workshop
All of us are endowed with the creative spirit and the need to express it. This introductory work-shop encourages and inspires those who are drawn to the power of the written word as an expression of their art and soul. We will explore all forms of writing from fiction to non-fiction to poetry to journaling, memoirs and more. The focus is on compelling storytelling and the celebration of self-expression through writing with coaching, group discussion, and sharing ideas in a supportive environment. Our method is inspired by Flannery O’Connor who said: “I write to discover what I know.” Our approach is well-reflected by Elmore Leonard: “I can’t allow what we learned in English composition to disrupt the sound and rhythm of the narrative.” Our goal for you is Wordsworth’s ideal to “fill your paper with the breathings of the heart.”
