On January 14th, Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller came to speak at our Wednesday evening service.
Our ultimate call is to grow God’s Kingdom in the world. Within this call is to help bring spiritual renewal to America. Modeling Christian Unity is a key to our being successful. Seekers and skeptics don’t understand why so many Christians don’t get along with each other. And for believers, disunity is a major drain on our spirits and resources.
I am talking about spiritual unity, not our organizational structures being unified. Denominations exist as a way to creatively handle our diversity but they are not to be barriers for our cooperation in advancing the gospel. Trinity is a partnering congregation to help San Antonio be a great city. One of the ways we do this is by helping people be at their best, and by helping people get along with each other.
Archbishop Gustavo and I are friends. We like and respect each other. Taking our cue from Jesus’ prayer in John 17, we pray and serve together that “they may believe.”
