Advent is Here!

We are now in the season of Advent, the season of 40 days leading up to Christmas, which helps us to prepare for the celebration of the birth of Christ. As I said in my article last month, after the unpredictability of 2020, I’m resting in the fact that the rhythm of this season will feel so familiar. The four Sundays of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love, along with the tradition of lighting Advent candles each Sunday morning, are sure to bring stability and encouragement to us all. I love reading the familiar Scripture passages associated with this season and singing those familiar Christmas carols!

On Sunday, December 6th at 6:00pm the Music and Worship Arts Ministry will present a program titled “Of the Father’s Love Begotten.” The presentation will feature music from our Orchestra (physically distanced), Crossings Band, the Castle Brass, vocalists, and numerous solos, duets, and smaller musical ensembles. This program will be distinct from other years because it will highlight the talents of the many spectacular instrumentalists who participate in our musical ensembles at TBC. The service will be offered both in-person and online and you will want to go ahead and get this event on your calendars!

This year we will also be hosting the Heart of Texas Concert Band for their annual Christmas concert on Sunday, December 20th at 3pm. We’ve loved hosting this group for their free concert that draws people from across our entire community, and I know you will want to be there. Additionally, December wouldn’t feel complete without our Christmas Eve service at 5pm on December 24th in-person and online. This service is my absolute favorite service to lead because we all come with hearts full of expectation and joy. There is nothing quite like it!
