D. Leslie Hollon, Ph.D., Senior Pastor

Our Youthful Future

God’s renewal of Trinity Baptist Church takes a major step forward with the Youth Pastor Search Team’s  unanimous recommendation that Gavin Rogers be called to lead our  Middle & High School ministries. Our national search has lead us to a  5th generation Texan who currently leads a vibrant  San Antonio youth program.

Gavin is  passionate about youth, talented with youth,  and committed to our building a world class youth ministry.  His love for God and people is contagious. He possesses high energy. He connects equally well with girls & boys. He relates well one to one, and in small and large groups. He effectively teaches the Bible for life application.  He works great with parents, adult leaders, and staff colleagues. He naturally blends fun with the serious. Gavin works for the church to be intergenerational and believes in God’s future for TBC.

Throughout this Trumpet issue you will read: the schedule, May21-23, for TBC to meet Gavin; testimonials about Gavin from Search Team members; his biographical information; Gavin’s letter to TBC; and an overview of his coming responsibilities.

I have immensely enjoyed working with the Search Team. They are faithful, discerning, and strong. We have felt God in our midst throughout our 5 month search process. We are grateful for your prayers which have daily encouraged us.  Please join me in thanking the Team members of: Ted Cleveland, Lisa Clingman, Stephen Daniel (co-chair);  Anita Foster, Kitty Hale, Kathryn Howie,  Hudson Kyle; Julianna Monteiro, Marianne Outlaw (co-chair), Julie Speer, and Malclom Thomas. Our unified effort brings our church to this historic opportunity.

As we envision a dynamic future for our youth ministry, we are now able to move beyond some tough stretches and build on the best of Trinity’s heritage. Our youth and their families are wonderful. Which is why we were inspired during our May 9th worship service, which included a celebration of the  accomplishments of our graduating high school seniors and their families. They are remarkable people filled with God’s promises.

We are a multigenerational church who is now ready to expand our spiritual and numerical growth in reaching San Antonio youth & their families. Thanks be to God.
