Pastoral Reflections
By Pastor Les
Last Tuesday I stood at the Dublin gravesite of my grandparents while officiating the funeral service of my Aunt Dorothy. She was a beautiful woman of feisty faith who lived well and long. At day’s end, I stood with my son, Ryan, at the gravesite of my parents in Boerne. The day’s uniqueness enabled me to “time travel” from the late 19th century to the early 21st century.
What I “saw” along the way was God’s steady goodness guiding a people through tumultuous times. And I “saw” a people not waiting for the times to be trouble free before they trusted God. Instead they faithfully engaged their faith to meet the challenges they faced.
Duing our forty days of “Listening Through the New Testament,” we will “time travel” with Jesus and the early Christians. The Trinity family will learn afresh how their life situations connect with our own. We will feel how Christ cared about their suffering in a way that we will feel lifted into His joyful presence. We will think in new ways of how to think about our life.
But to experience this fresh word from God we must engage the opportunity. We must invest 28 minutes per day, from February 17 (the beginning of Lent) through March 28 (Palm Sunday) to see Jesus walking off the New Testament pages into your current life context.
Imagine how God will shape us as a church family by this commmon experience of spiritual formation.
Each Sunday I will preach from the New Testament passages which we will have read during the week. Then during our Wednesday service, I will teach more in-depth from those passages and we will have Q & A.
Let’s daily pray for each other during this 40 Day “time travel” . God will bless our children, youth, and adults In ways that will benefit us for years to come.
Grace & Peace,
Pastor Les
Plan on participating in our February 21st Town Hall Forum. We will look at where we have been, where we are, and where we are going. We will see God’s provided way for how “We Will Meet the Challenge.” Ten minutes after the worship service, we will meet in the Dining Hall where a meal for children, youth, and adults will be provided. After the meal Children’s programing will be provided. There will be opportunities for questions & responses. We will conclude by 1:30 p.m.
