Music Notes

Martin Cherry

Interim Minister of Music & Worship Arts

Dear Trinity Family:

This last Sunday, the Chorale sang what has become one of my favorite choral pieces, “God Shall Wipe Away All Tears.” The text to the song, taken from the book of Revelation, is an incredibly powerful statement of the promises of God for His return. I particularly love the line:

No fear, no death, no sorrow, no pain,

for God Himself will be with them

and be their God.

What an incredible God we serve, that he would come to be among us and bring about such perfect peace. May we all experience the loving presence of God each day.

This will be my last “Music Notes” column. Donn Wisdom, Trinity’s new Minister of Music and Worship Arts, will begin his work here on February 10, and you can look for him to contribute to future issues of the Trumpet. I am grateful that God has led such a talented and Godly man to lead Trinity’s Music and Worship Ministry. I look forward to working with him.

As many of you have already heard, I will not be leaving the Trinity staff immediately. For the next few months, I will be taking on two roles. First, I will be leading our Production staff as we continue to strive for excellence in all we do, including providing sound, lighting, video, and technical support for our worship services and other events. Secondly, I will be working with our communications pieces, such as the Trumpet and the website, to ensure that information is disseminated in the way that will reach both our members and our community in a way that will be a blessing to all.

My time here has been incredibly rich in many ways, and I can’t begin to thank all of you for the many great experiences I have had here. Thank you for all you have done, and continue to do, to make Trinity an exciting and vibrant church family. I look forward to a continuing partnership with the people of this great church as we experience what God has in store for us in 2010!
