Faith Comes By Hearing - A 40 Day Journey Through the New Testament

Maybe you have said it often: “I would like to study the Bible more than I do. But I just can not find the time.”
Indeed, for most of us, our days are urgently busy with overly full schedules. Many are juggling commuting, work, children, volunteer activities and more. It is hard to find a moment to sit down and read the Bible without numerous distractions. Time for Bible study slips away even when we have the best of intentions.
If this describes you, why not try something different? Why not explore listening through the Bible? Our church is providing the perfect opportunity to experience the Bible in this new way. “Faith Comes By Hearing: A 40 Day Journey through the New Testament” is an audio Bible journey permitting us to listen to scriptures in an interesting and dramatic format. With easy to use tools we can listen to the scriptures as we have snatches of time in between those other urgent things that fill out our day. Thanks to the generosity of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, Trinity is able to provide this exciting program during Lent, February 17 through March 28 (Palm Sunday).
Faith Comes by Hearing makes it possible for participants to easily listen through the New Testament using unique audio recordings. With this program, the New Testament is divided into forty segments of 28 minutes each. Thus, by listening for 28 minutes a day for forty days, one can journey through the entire New Testament.
The audio Bible will be available to our church members in easy to use formats:
1. Available to every church member will be a free MP3 disc (adult and children’s versions available) which can be used in several ways:
a. The disc can be downloaded to a computer and one can listen easily using his computer.
b. The MP3 disc can be easily loaded (by using the music program on your computer) onto a portable listening device such as an ipod or MP3 player.
c. The MP3 disc can be played on a DVD player (but not a CD player).
2. In addition to the free MP3 disc, pre-loaded MP3 portable players (BibleSticks) will be available at a modest price to those who would like this convenient, easily used, device.
3. Also the Bible readings will be available on the church website for daily listening or for downloading to one’s computer.
4. For those who would rather read through the New Testament during this time we will have an easy to use readers’ guide.
The most exciting part of the "Faith Comes by Hearing” experience is that we, as Trinity members, have the wonderful opportunity to expand this program into our greater San Antonio community. We can do this in several ways:
1. Each adult can take at least one extra disc (more if you like) to give to friends, neighbors, or family members.
2. Each child can take extra children’s discs to give to friends.
3. The discs will be available to the various Bible study groups which are underway at Tripoint and on the main campus in order that participants may share them with friends.
4. Prayer walkers in the neighborhoods around the church and Tripoint can also have available a supply of the discs to share at appropriate times.
5. The Bible readings on the church website will be available not only to our church members but also to anyone in San Antonio and around the world who checks the website.
So get ready to be a part of this exciting journey leading up to a climatic Easter.
