Meals on Wheels
"Meeting the Nutritional Needs of Senior Citizens"

Trinity Baptist Church under the direction of Christian Senior Services participates in the Meals on Wheels of San Antonio program. Team members deliver hot meals to homebound seniors Monday through Friday. Team members are responsible for one day a week. Deliveries are made between 10:00 am and 12:00 noon.

Have You Considered Becoming a Meals on Wheels Team Member?

Carl and I began working with Meals on Wheels in November 2001. We deliver on Thursdays come rain or shine. Carl drives the Meals on Wheels pickup provided by Trinity Baptist and I deliver the meals. I really feel I have the best part, as I really enjoy the few minutes I get to spend with twenty-two wonderful seniors. The blessings are many: hugs, smiles, and thank yous. What a wonderful way to spend an hour and a half!

Last year, the Meals on Wheels program, city wide, delivered 470,000 meals. Being part of this program has been a real blessing. If you are looking for a way to serve in the church, this is a wonderful ministry.

Your Thursday “ Meals” Team, Carl and Reta Lloyd

How are Meals Delivered?

Meals are delivered to the client’s door by a trained driver or volunteer within four hours of packaging. Each meal is delivered hot in a reheatable microwave container.

More than 500 volunteers help us deliver meals every day, working out of local churches, military bases and businesses.

More volunteers and volunteer sites are always needed to help our program expand and reach out to those in need.

How Can I get Meals on Wheels?

For information about Meals on Wheels, contact our Outreach Department at 735-5115.
A caseworker will be assigned to meet with you to discuss the program and your specific needs. If you qualify for the program, your meal delivery will usually begin within 48 hours after approval.

How Much Does It Cost?

Eligibility is determined by an in-home assessment. Meals are provided at no charge to eligible clients. A sliding fee scale is available for those who are not eligible but who wish to donate the cost of a meal. Evening and weekend meals are available for $3.30 per meal.

How are Meals on Wheels Funded?

United Way and Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) Contributions
Bexar County Area Agency on Aging through TDoA
Foundation and Corporate Grants
Contributions from individuals and private groups
Private pay clients who are able to donate for their meals

How Can I Sponsor a Senior?

Individual, group and corporate sponsorships are encouraged to become involved in their community by sponsoring a senior. Many of the seniors in Bexar County suffer from loneliness, depression and even malnutrition. These seniors don’t have much contact with anyone outside their home. With your help and contributions, we can make a difference in a senior’s life. Help us, helps others.
