From the Heart of the Pastor Search Team
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the
Lord.
(Psalm 150:6)
From
our first meeting on January 14, 2008, every member of the Pastor Search Team
recognized that, while our chief responsibility was to recommend to the
church a senior pastor, the second, clearly, was to be obedient to God as we
worked through the process. With God’s grace we have accomplished
those goals. To God be all the glory.
We
have many to thank. First God, for allowing us to serve Him in this
way. To our families, through many hours of meetings, resume
reading, listening to sermons, making phone calls, and traveling hither
and yon. To the faithful Chapel group, who actually began sending up
petitions for our church long before the Pastor Search Team was even
formed and who bombarded heaven’s doors continually on our behalf. And to
our entire congregation and staff: thank you, thank you, thank you.
You were indeed patient beyond our expectations.
The
team believes God honored those prayers, not only in the persons of Leslie and
Vicki Hollon, but also in the renewal of our spirit at Trinity.
Our
hearts overflow with joy as we begin anew to build God’s kingdom together—one
person at a time.
In
getting to this place, the team determined that, above all, we would seek a
person of strong character, one who could lead, serve, pray, proclaim, and
point all toward Jesus in love. We wanted a pastor who could envision what
Trinity Baptist Church can become in God’s eyes. We found Dr. D. Leslie
Hollon, and we unanimously and wholeheartedly recommend him to the church for
approval as our Senior Pastor.
Amen, with joy!
And
not because we think we can do anything of lasting value by ourselves.
Our only power and success come from God. (2 Corinthians 3:5)
