This past Monday we had a Questions night at Segue. We were only able to discuss 3 of those questions but have been looking forward to discussing the other questions online. Be a part of the discussions by commenting on this and future posts as we begin to discuss these heavy issues. Here are the questions that were asked:
Where do you start when trying to read the Bible?
Why do bad things happen to good people? Does God cause or allow the earth quake in Haiti?
How do you know if you are letting God change you, or still trying to change using your own grit and will? What does depending on God take sin out of your life look like?
How do you know when you are saved? (and please for the love of God do not simply quote John 3:16 and be done with it)?
Did Mary and Joseph have any kids after Jesus? Where is that in the Bible? If so, why does the Catholic church deny it and say that Mary was forever the Immaculate Virgin?
Are there different levels attainable in heaven? Based upon how "well" you used your time here on earth?
By placing Adam and Even in Eden, with the tree which led to the fall, did God intend for the fall of man from the beginning? Did he purposefully set the stage for only the single outcome?
Is there an unforgivable sin?
What does it mean to conquer sin "with" God? As opposed to by your own merit, or depending entirely on God to intervene. What does the 'happy medium' look like?
What is limited atonement? Does the Bible Support it?
